Shedding Fear is a mixed-media exploration of transformation, vulnerability, and personal growth. Inspired by the artist’s lived experience of overcoming a deep fear of snakes, the piece captures the moment where fear begins to shift into understanding—and ultimately, into power.
At first glance, the viewer encounters a vividly colored serpent, coiled in motion against a dark, reflective background. The snake’s body is alive with saturated hues—electric blues, fiery reds, radiant yellows, purples, and oranges—creating a sense of movement and emotional intensity. Its scales are carefully constructed from polymer clay, giving the surface both a tactile and sculptural quality that invites closer inspection.
Embedded within the serpent’s form is a hidden human figure. Subtle at first, the figure reveals itself through the contours of the body—muscle, chest, and presence emerging from within the coils.
