Description
Fort Collins Connections
This mixed-media artwork is composed of 16 individual portraits arranged in a grid, each originally captured through photography and later digitally manipulated using image-editing software. Through this process, the artist introduced bold color, distortion, and expressive variation, emphasizing the individuality of each subject.
Following the digital transformation, each portrait was further developed with the addition of paint and small trinkets, creating a layered, tactile surface that blends photography, digital art, and physical mixed media. These elements give each face its own personality while adding depth and visual intrigue.
Inspired by the vibrant and diverse community of Fort Collins, the piece reflects the wide range of people that make up the city. Each portrait stands as a unique individual, yet none exist in isolation.
Flowing, multicolored lines connect the portraits across the composition, symbolizing the invisible threads of communication, energy, and relationship that link people together. These connections suggest that while we may appear separate, we are part of a larger, interconnected network.
Fort Collins Connections is ultimately a celebration of individuality within community—a visual exploration of how people, though different, are woven together through shared experience and human connection.
