Description
Dream Man Within Me is a mixed-media sculpture that reveals itself slowly to the viewer. From a distance, the piece reads as an abstract landscape—fluid, organic, and alive with movement. Only when viewed up close does the hidden male figure emerge, curved inward and partially concealed within layers of color, texture, and form.
Created with polymer clay, paint, beads, and embedded objects, the surface becomes a living terrain. Swirls of green, yellow, and blue suggest both natural landscapes and inner emotional worlds. The intentional use of negative space allows the figure to exist without being fully defined, giving the work a dreamlike quality—present, yet elusive.
On the right side, sculpted, leaf-like formations extend outward, adding depth and dimension, resembling both foliage and coral. Gold beads and colored elements catch the light, creating points of energy throughout the piece. Hidden within the composition are small cultural markers from the time it was created, including a subtle reference to Monsters, Inc. and miniature toy skateboards—playful details that ground the dream in memory and reality.
At the base, a tiny original artwork is embedded into the piece, reinforcing the idea of layers within layers—creation within creation.
Dream Man Within Me explores the idea that identity is not always immediately visible. Like a dream, it must be discovered. The work invites viewers to look closer—not just at the surface, but within.
