Neon Vessel
Neon Vessel is part of a series created for the Gay Pride Festival, where I explored the human form through color, abstraction, and presence rather than sexuality. While the subject is a nude male figure, the intention of the work is not erotic—it is an appreciation of form, posture, and artistic expression.
The figure is rendered in layered, translucent tones of green, orange, and red, creating a fluid, almost glowing silhouette that feels both grounded and in motion. The colors move through the body like energy, giving the impression that the figure is not just standing, but radiating.
The reflective surface introduces a second layer of meaning, subtly incorporating the viewer and surrounding environment into the piece. This creates an interaction between the real world and the painted form, blurring the line between observer and subject.
Surrounding the figure is a richly textured mixed-media frame embedded with found objects, patterns, and vibrant accents. The frame acts as both a boundary and an extension of the artwork, echoing the colors and energy of the central figure while giving the piece a sense of depth and containment.
Strong contrasts between light and shadow allow the figure to emerge powerfully from the dark background, emphasizing silhouette and presence. Neon Vessel represents a moment of creative expansion—stepping into a new audience, a new subject, and a deeper exploration of the human body as a vessel of energy, identity, and expression.
